Gonzalo Laserna Vargas
Gonzalo “Gon” Laserna is a Bolivian astrophotographer, filmmaker, and explorer, recognized as one of the country’s leading figures in astro tourism and astrophotography. His journey into the cosmos began unexpectedly through his production company, Mango Media, while experimenting with a motorized holy grail day-to-night timelapse. By pure chance—or perhaps the perfect alignment of time and space—he captured a breathtaking sequence of the Milky Way core rising behind Illimani, La Paz’s legendary mountain. This moment, both in shooting and editing, completely mesmerized him and sparked a lifelong passion for night photography and exploration.
From that point on, Gon dedicated himself to the art of astrophotography, venturing into Bolivia’s most remote and pristine dark-sky locations to refine his craft. In 2019, he founded Noctis Astro, initially as a community for night sky photographers, which soon evolved into a specialized astro tourism company offering customized tours and expeditions to capture the celestial wonders above Bolivia’s unique landscapes.
Beyond capturing stunning images, Gon’s bigger dream is to educate, inspire, and share the knowledge of astrophotography with Bolivia and the world. Through Noctis Astro, he continues to lead groundbreaking astro tours, expeditions, and workshops, bringing people closer to the stars while pushing the limits of night sky photography. With every new adventure, he remains committed to his ultimate goal: exploring, learning, and helping others see the universe like never before.
